Brixham has a diverse and interesting historical background, underpinned by its location by the sea and a deep-rooted fishing industry. The town is already well known as a tourist attraction, but visitors miss out on many areas of interest linked to Brixham’s history, culture and natural aspects. . BATS wanted to create a free community resource that would be accessible to anyone anywhere in the world, as well as being a legacy archive for the town.
In 2022 BATS commissioned Nautoguide to create a website structure of ‘interactive walk’ maps, allowing people to explore and discover the heritage, cultural and natural features that bring the town to life and celebrates Brixham's unique character.
brixhamwalks.org works on smart phones and computers alike and is easy to use and share. The website can be used prior to visiting Brixham or it can be used as a guide walking around the town, leading you through various themes and different routes and locations, providing interesting and intriguing details and historical facts.
With a simple to follow and use map, it takes your current location and automatically displays the information available in formats suitable for disability access requirements.
