Decent's Steps are now private steps next to the cake shop. Properties in Fore Street had gardens off Mount Pleasant Road, accessed by steps. Now the gardens are built on so the steps no longer exist. A child was killed on Decent's Steps in September 1898 and many children had fallen off the rails.
Steps that used to exist between Union Lane and Fore Street were Furneaux Steps, which no longer exist after all the bomb clearance from WW2 on Middle Street and Mill Tye.
Narrations of memories from Decent's Steps
Steps were named after Brixham people. Furneaux were trawler owners. The whole of North Furzeham is named after Brixham families. Union Lane was called Foxes Lane.
