Battery Gardens are 14 acres of grass covered land. The area is formerly a World War II Battery point and the remnants of this are clearly visible amongst the trees and in the open spaces. This was the last of a long succession of batteries and gun points since 1586.
Run by volunteers, the Brixham Battery Museum explains the long military history of this site. It is a free entry military museum with a range of WW2 (and earlier) artefacts and exhibits; including a genuine wartime Anderson Shelter, naval and anti-aircraft guns. There is also a shop selling Battery souvenirs, militaria, books and toys
It is open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays between March and October - between 2pm and 4pm. There are also special Open Days during the year when volunteers give talks about the various buildings on the site and their history and use.
Always check first if you wish to visit the Museum. https://brixhambattery.org/
