Berry Head offers an outstanding panorama of sea and coastal views. The area is bustling with wildlife and it is one of the best spots in the area to sight dolphins, seals and porpoises. Bluefin tuna have been sighted leaping in the area. This walk takes you from Breakwater Beach to Berry Head with an optional diversion down into a huge decommissioned quarry for a more intimate view of the sea.

This walk is 3.7 miles long when including the quarry and 2.47 miles long withoutThe full route climbs 646 feet in total reducing down to 315 feet if you ignore the optional leg. Surfaces are mostly paved but there is a long section climbing through woods where the path is steep, rocky and muddy after wet weather. The final section of the quarry option is on grass. We recommend stout walking shoes for this walk. Steep steps and the wooded section make this walk unsuitable for wheelchair users. Pushchairs will need to be carried for long sections of the wooded path.

On the way, you will pass Shoalstone Seawater Pool which is open from May until November, pack your swimming gear if you fancy a refreshing dip in natural seawater.
